What do you do if someone has a seizure?

If someone has muscle jerking and loss of consciousness (tonic-clonic seizure) you can help.

Move harmful objects away and put something soft under the head. Don't restrain the patient or place anything in the mouth - you can't swallow your tongue. As soon as possible, roll the patient onto the side to keep the airway open.

Call an ambulance if the seizure lasts more than 5 minutes or if another follows quickly.
