What should I do if I miss one or more contraceptive pills?

The instructions for missed pills have recently been updated.

For pills with 30-35 ug of ethinyloestradiol (oestrogen):
1. If you miss 1 or 2 active (hormonal) pills, take a pill asap and continue taking 1 daily. No additional contraception is needed.
2. If you miss 3 or more active pills, use condoms or abstain from sex until you have taken active pills for 7 days in a row. If you missed the pills in the third week, finish the active pills and start a new pack the next day. Do not take the 7 inactive (sugar) pills.

For pills with 20 ug of ethinyloestradiol follow instructions #1 above if you miss 1 active pill. If you miss 2 or more pills follow instructions #2 above.
