What are antioxidants, and should I be taking them?

Antioxidants are chemicals (e.g. Vitamins A, C, E) which are found in plant foods. Some people claim they reduce the risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease, but this has not yet been proven. The best advice for most people is to eat more fruit and vegetables.
