Red Cliffs Medical Centre

How does the MedicarePlus safety net work?

The new safety net will refund 80% of out-of-pocket costs for all rebatable medical services provided outside a hospital, by your GP and other health providers. Payments start once you have paid $300 in a year for certain concession holders or $700 for other individuals and families.

Out-of-pocket expenses are the costs between the Medicare rebate and the actual fee charged. The additional safety net payment will be added to your Medicare rebate.

Families need to register to receive the full benefit. For more details ring 1800 011 163 or go online to http://www.health.gov.au.medicareplus/.
