POLICY FOR GRANITE BELT MEDICAL SERVICES FOR SEEING PATIENTS AFTER THE BORDER REOPENS AND BEGINNING ON 17/12/2021 AS PER GOVERNMENT PROTOCOL.
- All staff must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 – as per Qld Govt Mandate.
- All patients (vaccinated or unvaccinated) must only be allowed entry to the surgery premises if they have NO COLD OR FLU SYMPTOMS – If they are unwell, they can be offered a phone or video consult – with or without a Medicare rebate. Medicare rebates will only be available to patients who have had a face to face consult in the surgery within the previous 12 months.
- Unvaccinated patients who are NOT sick with cold or flu symptoms can enter the premises as a patient only but MUST WEAR A MASK AT ALL TIMES.
- Unvaccinated patients are unable to have anyone attend the appointment with them if they too are unvaccinated – excluding children. Unvaccinated people (patients or non-patients) are not permitted to enter the surgery if they are not being seen as a patient.
- Receptionists should ask each patient upon check in if they are vaccinated.
- If an unwell patient chooses to attend the surgery and wait in their car, the Doctor should conduct a phone consult initially, then if the patient needs to be seen, the Doctor should gown up in full PPE and conduct a car park consult. No patients with cold and flu like symptoms should be invited into the practice unless they have a negative COVID-19 test in the preceding 72 hours.
