A/Prof. John Gullotta has been a General Practitioner in Matraville, Sydney, since 1992.  He graduated with honours from Newcastle University in 1991, after completing a degree in Pharmacy at the University of Sydney in 1986. In 1998 he was awarded a fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

A/Prof. Gullotta has an extensive involvement in academia, medical organisations, media and community service.

In November 2005 he was awarded the title of  Adjunct Associate Professor, Central Clinical School at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Sydney. He is a clinical teacher at Sydney University’s Department of General Practice and at the School of Community Medicine, University of New South Wales. In 2014 he was appointed Visiting Fellow in Pharmacy, Graduate School of Health, UTS Sydney

He served as President of the AMA (NSW), the state’s peak medico-political body, from 2004 to 2006. He was the President of the Eastern Suburbs Medical Association from 1999 to 2004, and was Foundation Secretary of the South Eastern Sydney Division of General Practice. He was a Councillor of the AMA (NSW) from 1996-2006. At AMA NSW he chaired the Ethics Committee, the Medical Practice Committee and was Vice-President of the Section of General Practice.

A/Prof Gullotta was an AMA Federal Councillor from 2005-2016. In 2006 he was elected as the Federal Councillor representing NSW & ACT a position he held until 2016. He was a member of the AMA Executive Council from 2007 to 2009. and past Chair of the Federal AMA Committee’s on Therapeutics. In 2006 he was admitted to the Australian Medical Association Role of Fellows in recognition of the sterling service and many years of dedication to the AMA.

Although A/Prof Gullotta is in full-time medical practice he retains his registration as a pharmacist, and has served on numerous pharmaceutical advisory bodies. Current positions include membership of the Poisons Advisory Committee of the NSW Health Department, the Medicines Australia Code of Conduct Committee and the Advisory Editorial Panel of “Australian Prescriber”.

His community commitments include membership of Rotary and the Variety Club of Australia. He was Chairman of the AMA NSW Charitable Foundation from 2006 – 2016.

He is a Past Board Member of Diabetes Australia NSW, a member of the Heart Foundation NSW Cardiovascular Health Advisory Committee, General Practice Advisory Committee NSW Cancer Institute and a Councillor of the Gut Foundation. In October 2005 he convened and became Foundation President of the Australian Italian Medical Association NSW.

From 2004 – 2015 he was Vice President of CoMiTes, the Committee of Italians Abroad in NSW.

In 1995 A/Prof. Gullotta received the “Australian Doctor” GP Award for his contribution to medicine. In 1997 he was featured in International Leaders in Achievement, IBC Cambridge. In 2001 he was awarded the Inaugural University of Newcastle Alumni Medal in recognition of his professional achievements and community service. In 2004 he was awarded Italy’s top honour for his contribution to the Italo-Australian community and relations between Italy & Australia. A/Prof. Gullotta was made a Cavaliere – Ordine Della Stella della Solidarieta Italiana (Star of Italian Solidarity).

In 2007 he was appointed Member in the Order of Australia, AM for “service to medicine through a range of executive roles with professional medical associations and as a general practitioner, and to the Italian community”.

He is a Specialist General Practitioner and his interests include diabetes, asthma, paediatrics, arthritis and hypertension.

“Dr John” is the original Sydney “Rock Doctor” with vast experience in the personalised and confidential medical care of performing artists, VIP’s and celebrities both local and international.


Dr Angela ONG
MB BS(Hons.), BSc(Med), FRACGP

Specialist General Practitioner.

Dr Ong completed her medical degree at the University of New South Wales graduating with honours in 1994. She is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Dr Ong also consults in Mandarin and Hokkien. She is a Specialist General Practitioner and her interests include women’s health and paediatrics.
