What Accreditation Means:

To achieve the status of Accreditation general practices must adhere to a set of standards set out by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).

There are 15 Standards practices must meet in order to become Accredited –
these relate to a range of operational areas including :

  • quality of service, communication, patient care, record keeping
  • infection control, heath promotion
  • and dedication to continuous improvement.

Accreditation is a voluntary three year process which practices undertake.
St Helena Mediplex has been fully Accredited since 2002.
We were successfully re-accredited in September 2017.

St Helena Mediplex is an Accredited Training Practice with EV GP Training in the delivery of the Australian General Practice Training Programme. We work in partnership with EV GP Training to train the next generation of GPs for our community. Our practice has GPs who supervise, mentor and support registrars (doctors in training).

Each registrar usually stays with us for a period of six months.
